How to help your daughter find her SPARK

As parents, we want our daughters to love life and live their dreams. But how can we help?

You can do this by helping your daughter to first discover her SPARK. The best time is between the ages of 10-14 but can be sooner.

This SPARK can be found in the activities she loves doing or the skills and talents she thrives at. It could also be something in her character or personality such as being a natural leader - do not call her bossy but call her a leader!

Parents inspire your daughter to discover what she loves doing and encourage her to flourish in it.

If you don’t know what your daughter loves, let me challenge you today to simply ask her. If she doesn’t know, spend some time observing her.

When your daughter discovers her SPARK – she will find her confidence and her zest for living. The confidence she will gain from this SPARK will also feed into everything else that she does.

Does your daughter love any of the activities below?

  • Music
  • Art & Crafts
  • Sports
  • Gymnastics
  • Horse riding
  • Outdoor activities
  • Writing
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Singing
  • Drama
  • Coding
  • Languages
  • Cooking/Baking
  • Caring for animals

Or perhaps, none of the above is her thing – parents do your best to help your daughter discover the thing that she loves by trying out different activities together.

I have three daughters aged 10, 12 and 14, and I can assure you that they all like different things. However, there is only one of me so sometimes we all join in do the activities that they each love.

There is a blessing in this for parents too – while helping your child discover what they love, you might also rediscover a love for an activity that you use to enjoy. My children help me to keep fit because of all the activities that I do with them.

Also, I would never have dreamt of starting a business making kids hair accessories if it were not for my kids. I discovered my love for making hair accessories by fixing all the ones they broke when they were little. From this, I figured out a better way to make them last longer and now I love making hair accessories.

I hope you enjoy the wonderful journey of discovering what inspires your daughter so she too can find her SPARK and go on to achieve great things.
